Sacraments

Daily religious instruction and school-wide prayer, weekly all-school Mass, the monthly Virtues Program, and sacramental preparation are the cornerstones of building the faith community.

Preparation for and receiving the Sacraments are unique aspects of faith formation at Saint Agnes Catholic School:

  • Second grade students spend the school year preparing for the Sacraments of Penance and First Holy Communion. These young students lead school-wide prayer each afternoon.  Interactive and meaningful retreats are planned for both students and parents to help prepare children to receive the sacraments. Holy card collection after Sunday Mass allow the priests to get to know the students and their families while teaching the children about the lives of saints. Take-home workbooks allow parents to actively engage and share the Faith with their own children.
  • Confirmation preparation begins in 7th grade with a parent & student retreat to begin their Confirmation journey. In the 8th grade, students joyfully receive the sacrament of Confirmation in the Spring. Both 7th & 8th grade students discover the joy of sharing their gifts through service hours and grow in prayer and Scripture study through Flipgrid Gospel reflections. A saint report allows students to find a special patron and saintly model as they strive for holiness. A comprehensive Confirmation exam helps prepare them to be soldiers of Christ and defend the Faith. Their sacramental preparation culminates in a meaningful spiritual retreat where Confirmation candidates reflect on their God-given mission to serve the Church and others as they continue their journey of lifelong intentional discipleship.
  • School-wide penance services are offered quarterly during the school year.
