Saint Agnes offers an Extended Day Program before and after normal school hours. Extended Day hours are 7-8 a.m. and 3:15-6 p.m. The Extended Day Program is a licensed childcare program and is available for all registered Saint Agnes students (Note: Pre-K students are NOT eligible for Extended Day morning hours).
The afternoon Extended Day Program incorporates a nice balance between work and play, including snack, activities, study hall, and free play. The Director and staff supervise all aspects of the program with safety being the top priority. Lunch is provided on early release days, and special events and activities are scheduled throughout the year.
All families are required to register for Extended Day services in case an emergency should arise. The program allows for students to attend on a daily basis as well as on a drop-in basis. All children attending Extended Day must be signed in and out by an authorized adult.
Students in grades 1-8 attend Extended Day in the gym. The following is a sample schedule:
3:15 – 3:45 p.m. … Study Hour / Homework Time
3:45 – 4:00 p.m…. Snack with milk
4:00 – 5:00 p.m. … Children are outside (weather permitting)
* Wednesdays and Fridays include extra free play *
5:00 – 6:00 p.m. … Free play inside as well as Sports, Board Games, and Movies
Students seeking a quieter environment may go to the library to complete assignments. Two staff members accompany these children to supervise and prove help finding resources to complete homework.
Students in Kindergarten and Pre-K participate in a special program geared specifically for these younger children. This program is housed in a separate part of the school. Here is an example of their schedule:
3:15 – 3:30 p.m. … Homework for Kindergarten students and draw/color for Pre-K/s at another table
3:30 – 4:00 p.m. … Bathroom/snack
4:00 – 5:15 p.m. … Children are outside (weather permitting)
5:15 – 5:45 p.m …. Bathroom/free play
5:45 – 6:00 p.m. … Remaining students are brought downstairs to the gym to await pick-up
